Patience and God's timing

June, 2008

What a bright a beautiful day it is. Of course that also means HOT!

I stood out in my garden today listening to the thunder and watching the rain move right around us. Oh well, someone got some rain today.
I ended up punching holes in the bottom of gallon jugs and watering my garden one jug at a time. One thing I noticed is that the drier the soil the harder it was to water it. The soil that was the thirstiest rejected the water and pushed it way in little rivulets. While the soil that was already a little damp excepted the water and the more I poured on the faster it soaked in. It reminded me of me. The times in my life when I was the most in need, and my spiritual life was the driest, I pushed away the water of life. but God didn't give up on me. He didn't flood me all at once either, He drew me, a little at a time, and once He had wet my appetite for Him I began to soak up more and more of His love instead of pushing Him away. I think that's a lesson I can use when trying to witness to others as well. Not to over whelm them with too much at once but to be patient and work with God's timing.
