Smell Lifes Roses

So often it is easy to over look the really important things in life, and one of those is just taking a moment to enjoy the day that God has given us.

Last evening was such a blessing to me. I was sitting on my porch talking to a friend and just taking in the beauty of the cool day. As we talked I noticed that my rabbit, Goose, who lives under my back porch, kept hopping closer and closer to us. He seemed to be enjoying the day with animated enthusiasm. He would hop along taste some grass and then leap into the air and twist and turn and kick out his back legs. He would run around with short bursts of speed and then spring into the air again sometimes doing flips and turns. It was hilarious to watch and brought laughter and joy to my heart. I have never before thought of rabbits as being playful. Usually I think of kittens, and puppies and otters as natures comedians but I guess God put a playful heart into all of His creatures. It is obvious to me that He wants us to enjoy our life and to take pleasure in the simple things that He has provided.

Satan has so perverted joy these days. He has tricked the human race into thinking that fun can only come from things that are destructive to us. Our minds have been so brainwashed by TV, movies, songs and video games that we tend to see bad things as exciting and good things as boring. Satan will even go so far as to make us think that God is boring and that being a Christian is to practice living your life in misery. But this could not be further from the truth. Unwholesome pleasures last but a moment and weeping comes in the morning. But the pure pleasures that God provides His people just keep getting better and better. They bring laughter and love and peace and joy of a sort that will not fade as time passes.

No matter what your schedule today, take time to step outside, take in a deep breath, and open your eyes to see the blessing God has stored in this day for you.
