Recently I had the opportunity to visit some newly acquired friends that live about an hour and a half away from Critter Patch. After spending a wonderfully busy day there they were gracious enough to invite me to spend the night. You see the freeway had been closed due to a chemical spill and that would make my trip home very long and inconvenient. I gratefully accepted the offer and my friend put me in a very nice room with an attached Bath. She laid out towels and such for me and after saying goodnight, left me to rest. I decided that a hot shower would feel good, so I made my way that direction. Here is where I met with a challenge. My friend's home is very modern and has lovely furnishings the problem was that I have never run across a shower that looked quite like this one. I turned the water on and began to look for a lever for the shower, I searched every inch of that tub and couldn't find one. There was a Shower head, a place to turn on the water, and a spout for the water to pour into the tub but, no button or lever could I find to turn the shower on, I pushed, pulled, poked, and twisted everything in there until I gave up for fear I'd brake something, try as I might I could not figure out how to operate that shower. I thought ok maybe this is so modern it's computerized or something I searched the wall outside the shower for a switch and only succeeded in flipping on another light. I clapped my hands to see if that worked and tried voice commands, I even looked for a coin slot to no avail. Finally I concluded that perhaps it was just there for decoration and didn't really work at all. I gave up and crawled into bed. After a few moments I remembered that another friend of mine had stayed in that room before and since she never goes to bed early I chanced to give her a call and see if she had any wisdom which could help me with my dilemma. Turns out she had experienced the same thing but was able to help me because she had asked them how to operate it. So to wrap up a long story I did finally get to have my nice hot shower, no thanks to me.
As I laid in bed that night I began to think about all this and realized that everything works better if you have the directions. If something as simple as operating a shower can be so difficult how could I ever expect to figure out my complicated life without some help. I tried for years and messed it all up, until I discovered that when God created me He provided an operating manual for me to follow. Once I began to read it, my life began to make a lot more since. I still don't have it all figured out of course but I have faith that as I trust in Him and follow His directions He will make something beautiful of my life.
Blessings to you my friends as you face the many challenges of life, may God guide you safely through.
Bonnie
