Harvest

9/23/08

Harvest is over, for this year anyway. The fruits of our labors are in glass jars and arranged in a rainbow of color on shelves. It feels good to stand back and look at them.

I know there is another harvest, far more important, that will soon be taking place on this planet of ours. In (Luke 10:2) Jesus explains that the harvest is ready but the laborers are few. He bids us pray that The Lord will send forth more laborers. For surely the day will come, and I believe it will be soon, when the final cry will be issued from the throne of God, "Thrust in thy sickle and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe." (Rev. 14:15) I want to be one of the ones who is willing to be called to service for my master. I fear I have often turned away from this invitation in the past, esteeming other things to be more important. I have found myself too busy with the cares of this life, making a living, social engagements, entertainment, or just plain trying to survive. I forgot what was important and confused my priorities until I could no longer see clearly. It wasn't until I was so tired and sick of the mess I had made of my life that I finally started to take a closer look at what was really important in the grand scheme of things. I began to realize what mattered most to God is also what should matter most to me. A world of hurting people are suffering and dyeing all around us, I think it's about time I get my priorities straight and give them the good news of Salvation through Jesus Christ. It is my goal from this day forward to unite myself with God for it is only in having a daily, personal, living, abiding connection with our creator that we can accomplish the work he has set before us. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phil. 4:13)

Won't you join me my friends. Lets get up off our lees and go forth, clothed with the Armor of God (Eph. 6:11) Lets spread the good news and reap the harvest.

What a wonderful day it will be, when we can stand in the courts of heaven and look at the fruits of our labor. Lets not continue to allow the cares of this life to distract us and throw us off track.

God be with you my friends.
